Artist or Actor???

What makes a singer, a singer these days? Just by turning on the radio, one can listen to a wide eclectic taste of music from all backgrounds and from all types. There are so many singers out there today, that it is mind blowing. However, this is not particularly bad, there are also a wide variety of people these days that have very different tastes. If one were to take the top ten selling albums of today and look at the people that sang them, there would be a lot in common.
I am not talking about those no name singers and groups, I am talking about the stuff that is “in” and sells. Like N-SYNC, Ricky Martin, Blink 182, or Jennifer Lopez, these are what are “in” today. When I look at groups and singers like this, I say where have all the artists gone? It is somewhat obvious that these people have some type of talent that has gotten them this far, however it is sometimes hard to tell exactly what it is. These to me are not artists; these are actors and actresses that put on a show. Essentially, what it comes down to is this; these are mostly attractive people, young and “hip.” They sing songs that have very catching beats and phrases to them and they sell albums. This is not a bad thing at all. They work hard and they get paid handsomely for it.
I am not saying to hate the music; all that I am saying is to appreciate it for what it is and nothing more. Let’s look at this another way. I took my sisters and cousins to an N-SYNC concert a while back. It was fun. There were a lot of special effects, fire works, people flying, the whole everything. I also went to three Googoosh concerts; there was nothing like fire works, and Ms. Googoosh never flew that night. See came out, without any dancers or special effects. Stood in front of a crowd of thousands and sang for three hours. Not once did I get bored or look at anything else but the stage that night. Googoosh is an artist. No one went there that night to see Googoosh fly or see fire coming off the stage. They just went there to see and hear the priceless jewel from Iran. N-SYNC and other people in the same category are actors, they put on shows, with their singing just being a part of the performance.

Appreciate everything for what it is. As a final note, I would like to say that people that say boy bands like N-SYNC are feminine; they should go get a life. Look at themselves then look at the groups, they have money, fame, attraction by the opposite sex and basically all.  If living like N-SYNC is not cool, then I should hope that we all be as fortunate as N-SYNC and not be cool either.
